We began making wine in the early 2000s using grapes from our one-acre estate vineyard. A converted room in our barn became the micro-winery that produced our first and future vintages.
The first harvest ended with an old-fashioned grape stomp with friends and family, making for a memorable summer night in our backyard. Over a decade of careful craftsmanship and a desire to share wine with new friends resulted in the creation of Narrow Path Winery.
Primarily composed of Pinot Grigio and Merlot, these vines were planted in 2000 and are currently some of the oldest Vitis Vinifera varietals in the Fredericksburg AVA.
The Merlot is earthy and jammy on the vine and lends itself to a single varietal red wine that typically ages for 24 months on new French oak barrels.
The Pinot Grigio is made into a single-varietal white wine or a skin-fermented orange wine, depending on the year’s quality.
The first vines were planted in 2016, with the final planting completed in 2020.
Planted in the rocky, limestone hillside, these vines interact delicately with the low vigor soils and are warmed by a consistent south-to-north breeze in the spring.
The estate varietals are Tempranillo, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Sangiovese, Roussanne, Tannat, Viognier, Picpoul Blanc, Trebbiano, Merlot, and Alicante Bouschet.
